Test report:

Xhorse VVDI Key Tool (as well as mini key tool, key tool max) can unlock Subaru smart key HYQ14AHC.

Note: it will also do HYQ14ACX and HYQ14AGX but not do the HYQ14AHK.

HYQ14AHK looks same in every way on the outside but cannot be unlocked this way.

If Xhorse VVDI tools say “Unlock OK” , but LED on smart key does not blink as it should, and key can not be programmed to the car. Battery in smart key is OK.

Unlock multiple times until you see the light blink. If this does not work then press a button (the light will blink) and hit unlock. The light should blink again during unlock.

 

Best way to check if key is unlocked is to try to program it to the vehicle! Some keys will flash without help and some don’t like to without button presses. Alternatively, you can lay it face up on top of the coil on the vvdi.
