It need to cloning because it has a different configuration. And to make configuration with diagnostic tool, you need to have original tool or gateway adaptor cable!!
UPC modules have specific configurations that depend on the vehicle’s equipment. And not just any scanner can perform this job correctly; that’s why it’s worth either cloning the module or virginizing it.
They always come with configuration settings—and it’s even better if you actually configure them—because in several instances, you’ve have to provide configuration info for the gear shifter position, even though some units don’t actually have one.
