In this groundbreaking tutorial, we demonstrate the step-by-step process of adding a key on 2021+ GM CAN FD vehicles (using the shark fin style keys) using the Xhorse Key Tool (Key tool max, key tool max pro, key tool plus) and Xhorse XM38 key.
This innovative method leverages the XM38 key’s advanced features to simplify the key programming process.
You usually need to use ACDelco SPS2 or you basically going to need to buy all those subscriptions and let somebody take over your computer to program these keys. Because no 3rd party tool can read rolling code any more.
NOTE:
Only works if you program an aftermarket key first with SPS then you can clone from the aftermarket key to an xhorse key. You CAN NOT clone from original key and you can NOT program any keys either without oe software.
We are just going to add a key without connecting to the car. Cuts time and saves money. No dealer tools are needed.
We will need the Xhorse XM38 universal smart key (here use XSCH01EN Chrysler style XM38 smart key).
Step 1:
Generate the right key with the ID49.
Step 2:
Take out PCB of the original key or working aftermarket universal smart key.
Take the PCB out so you have it without battery.
Step 3:
Go to Special Function-> Copy Proximity Remote-> ID49 (Buick/Chevrolet/Cadillac/GMC).
Put the PCB in the slot, read it.
Hit Start clone. Then collect data.
Step 4:
When data acquisition is finished, place an XM38 smart key or XT27B chip to write key.
The old key will keep working exactly the same. It doesn’t interfere. It’s just basically become a clone of that key.
You can buy the XM38 Cadillac style, which is pretty close and it’s all depends on you and if the customer wants the original, then you use the dealer tool and it is what it is.
Another example:
2024 Corvette C8 … Not the best looking key but you can save the day to someone with just one key, maybe a broken fob with not working buttons or prox function.
